After occasionally glancing at this personal blog the past 32 days, I realized that perhaps it was time again to write. After all, most of the Christmas lights are down in our neighborhood, and those that remain may be never removed.
It was a year ago that we made a bid on this house we now call home and moved in shortly after Easter 2006. But what about the past 32 days?
December 25th. After morning Christmas stuff, Kathy drove us west to pick up one of her sisters and bring her back to stay with us for a few days. This was only possible due to the mild winter we've had in Indiana so far.
New Years came and probably the most life changing events that came with 2007 are these two items:
1) Family. Josh, the college student came to live in Fort Wayne. This is really the first time he has lived here. In November he turned 22 and living in Terre Haute and going to school at Rose Hullman has been a struggle. Not the school, but the life there. Josh has excelled at school, even the 2nd highest ranked engineering school couldn't stop him. But life is more than school (or work). And my son got married when he was just 20 to a woman who proved to be not ready to settle down. And so the relationship that was supposed to last forever... didn't. And when your heart gets broken, it can create a big chasm that looks impossible to cross. And you wonder if you even want to keep going in that direction. As Josh's life moved forward, one day at a time, a series of events fell into place that led to the decision to leave Terre Haute and Rose Hullman and start fresh. This time at IPFW which stands for Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne. 30 years ago we called it ooowe pooowee (IUPU). And once again our extra bedroom has family in it. So far, so good he said with a content smile.
Oh yeah. 2) Work. About 6 or 7 weeks ago, my boss and I had a talk about what was needed to take our company to the next level. And as a result, I officially became station manager of "The River" which is WGL 1250am and WWGL 102.9fm. This was in place of managing WILD 96.3. Help was needed for WGL, and I was asked to step in and get things moving and to get the sales staff moving. You can read more about that at the other blog.
In the meantime, I have now updated this, and will do so on a more regular basis than every 32 days. My son is waiting on customers at the Firefly Coffee House about 10 feet away from me as I type. Winter is here, I have a box full of work to do at home and so it's time to finish my coffee and head out. See ya soon. Really.
