Jello Freak

Have you ever "invented" a word, a phrase, an expression and then perpetuated it? Letterman has one,"In My Pants!" And his production company is called World Wide Pants. A few years ago my daughter Abby, was I.M.ing and walked away from the computer. I sat down and typed JelloFreak in all the conversations she was having. No, it means nothing. Just a fun, weird, invented, word.

Now, here's another question... do you have a favorite word? or two? My favorite common word is DOORKNOB. It just sounds fun. The other, less common word that I learned 30 years ago is ROTUND. And I got in trouble for calling my english teacher rotund in a paper I wrote. Look it up, if you care.

Saturday Mid-Day

Gotta recommend a book. Couplehood by Paul Reiser. He wrote it 1994. I got it a couple weeks ago for a quarter at a thrift store. Too many similarities to real life! I was laughing out loud and sharing with Kathy today.

In case you didn’t know, I never bought a house until I was 42. Not that I lived under a bridge or anything, but I went from living with parents to renting apartments to renting houses and never got around to having a mortgage. It was convenient. If something major went wrong, you just told the landlord and he took care of it.

Now there were plenty of times that I had the responsibilities of ownership. Like when we returned to Indiana to live with and help my in-laws take care of their home. Learned how to dig drainage tile for a bathroom and all that crap. Literally. And there is that one task I really hate, painting.

Anyway today’s homeowner husband task was to find out why the refrigerator was sometimes leaving a puddle. So I read the manual, cleaned out what I could, then enlisted my (skinny) son to get behind it and clean out the back. We still couldn’t find the real source until Josh noticed a drip coming from the small water pipe that feeds the ice maker.

(This is the first house I’ve lived it that had an ice maker)

So we found some tools and Josh tightened down the water line going into the back of the fridge and now we will see the results! By the way, I just found a guide to do what Josh and I just did right here.
