A Sunday Afternoon

I wonder a lot these days about what my parents went through as they saw their son go through life. Wish I could ask them, but it's too late for that. As a matter of fact it is because they are no longer around, I probably think about them more often then when they were alive to talk to. There are reminders all around me to, such as the desk that was my Dad's and his Dad's before that.

Kathy and I were talking about furniture and what we want to keep as we prepare for our next move and this old desk is what I will hang onto above all else. One day Josh may end up with it although I won't be around to see it.

As a parent I miss my kids and I understand more about my parents than I ever did before. When they are going through tough times, you want to protect them and smooth out the bumps, yet the balence of give and take has to be there so they will grow stronger for themselves, for the people in their lives, for the children they may have in the future.

Never, ever close the door on your family. And If you do, be sure to keep it unlocked so the door can be opened again
