Ahhhh Relaxing

Imagine a time when all you had to do was relax. How do you relax? One of the blessings in life right now is the ability to take a brief vacation and relax. Here's how my week went:
Sunday: spend the morning looking over financial reports to gather information for a presentation to our board of directors, followed by 2 1/2 hours of meeting with my co-manager to decide who was going to do what in the presentation.
Monday: 14 hour work day
Tuesday: 12 hour work day and Kathy's birthday party
Wednesday 10 hour work day including the board meeting

Then.....

7pm Wednesday night, kick off the Relaxing with dinner out with my wife.
Thursday: Time away to visit Kathy's siblings and family... ie relaxing
Thursday night coming home and discovering my son had his car stuck in the mud and there was nothing I could do about it except take him to the store and let him figure out what to do. (after all, he is 22 and a pretty smart kido)
Then right before falling asleep, being told the internet is not working, which means the phones are not working (VOIP), so I go upstairs for 90 minutes trying to fix it. Finally giving up and climbing into bed.
Friday morning, discovered that the phone was now working, which means the internet reset itself while I was sleeping. ( I gotta remember this lesson!) We left for Indy and have had a relaxing time eating Irish food, drinking in the Hard Rock Cafe, and taking magazine quiz's. Then she reads her book while he reads his e-mail. Yes, ahhhhhh this is relaxing.
Saturday is tomorrow, which is our wedding anniversary and St Pat's Day and we get to relax another day and a half before heading home.

Still growing

This has been one helluva week. Having to "Un-Hire" an employee. Dealing with some family issues. And thru it all I have realized a pattern of growth.

Awhile ago I had the chance to leave my company and work for another one. The offer was tempting. I am so glad that I decided to stay and focus on what I am doing, because there has been growth thru learning, and taking bold steps that I would not have had to do if I switched. Not that it is easy, but like exercise, that which doesn't kill us, makes us stronger and better.

About 70% to 95% of the time I believe in myself and my ability to get things done. Some call this self-esteem, positive thinking, etc. I call it faith. Faith in God and in myself and knowing the difference.

Kathy and I have gotten into the habit of attending church on Saturdays about 5pm. It is a good time to stop, and keep things in perspective, and re-energize. Week after week, day by day, I find myself learning, reflecting, and growing in my multiple roles as a Dad, Husband, Manager, Leader, Mentor, and Salesperson. All because of my desire to learn, reflect and grow as a Christian with a one-on-one relationship with my God.

They say that our eyes do not grow any bigger since birth, and that our nails grow even till the last moments of our lives. Well, our minds and hearts are still growing too.

Connections

From 3 different people I have heard about a lady named Kim. I was unaware of her name the first couple of times that I heard the story, but by asking a couple of questions, listening, observing and sharing the story, I have found a connection with 3 people who do not know each other, but know me, and this woman who is having serious health problems at the moment.

How many connections are there around you? Listen, observe, and ask, and you may be surprised like I was!
